July 2, 56th Street & Hwy 17: Police stopped a vehicle, which ran the yellow light travelling at a speed of 142 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver was given a speeding ticket and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver was picked up at the roadside by a family member.
July 3, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported that they had inadvertently left an Aritzia bag, containing a shirt in the mall corridor overnight. When they returned in the morning, the bag was gone. Surveillance video revealed a Caucasian male with a beard and ponytail stuffing the item under his shirt and walking out of the mall.
July 4, 4900 Block of Canoe Pass Way: Richmond RCMP requested assistance with locating a stolen dump truck, which had been tracked to a Delta location. Police attended and located the unlocked vehicle with signs of diesel theft. The owner retrieved the vehicle undamaged. The theft is under investigation with examination of surveillance video.
July 4, 4900 Block of Canoe Pass Way: An employee of a business reported to police that a shoplifter had just stolen several pairs of pants. Police attended and arrested the suspect. Three pairs of work pants valued at $300 were recovered. The suspect was transported to police headquarters where he was charged, and then released on a requirement to attend court on a specific date.
July 7, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: Report received from an employee of a business that four South Asian males, in their 20’s, entered the store with empty bags, and left with $900 worth of apparel in the bags without offering payment. Mall security provided screen shots of the suspects getting into a white Ford Mustang. It is believed the same suspects stole several items from another business several minutes prior. Police to continue the investigation with information provided by the businesses and mall security.

July 2, 7500 Block of Vantage Place: Complainant reported they had left their truck at a business for servicing and had received a call from the business that they were unable to locate the truck. As the truck had cameras and a GPS system, the complainant was able to inform police that the truck was at a Richmond location. Richmond RCMP located the truck and released it to the owner. Surveillance video revealed a male suspect dismantling the cameras and showing a clear image of the suspect. The image was disseminated for possible identification of the suspect.
July 3, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they had clicked on an advertisement regarding a short stock and had invested $3,400 by credit card, and an e-transfer to a crypto exchange. The complainant realized the situation to be fraudulent when the trader indicated they had fronted the complainant with $25,000 in their portfolio on the trading website. The complainant received multiple emails advising them they owed $25,000 which the complainant refused to pay. The police file is under investigation.
July 5, 3900 Block of Arthur Drive: While conducting a proactive sobriety checkpoint, police spoke to a driver who appeared to show signs of impairment. Breath samples provided read ‘Warn”, as a result the driver given a 24 hour driving prohibition. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the driver was picked up by their family.
