Aug. 29, 5000 Block Canoe Pass Way: Complainant called police to report a theft in progress in which two women were observed stealing $227 in clothing from a local business. Police attended and received CCTV stills of the suspects who were then located in another business. Police recovered the stolen items from the two females and returned them to the business who did not wish to press charges as the items were recovered.

Aug. 30, 4th Avenue & 56th Street: While conducting a counterattack roadblock, an odour of liquor was detected by police on a driver’s breath. Breath samples provided resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. The driver had their license seized, a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition ordered, and the vehicle impounded for 30-days. The driver left the area in a taxi.

Aug. 31, 4900 Block Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported the theft of Adidas slides from a local business. The female suspect is described as approximately 5’7”, with bright red hair, wearing a white checkered dress. Police attended and reviewed CCTV for identification. Patrols in the area proved negative.

Sept. 1, 5200 Block 12th Avenue: Police conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle disobey a stop sign. An odour of liquor was detected coming from the driver. Two breath samples were requested which resulted in a ‘fail’. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, the vehicle was towed and impounded for 30-days and the driver chose to walk home.

Aug. 30, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Way: Complainant reported being the victim of fraud after forwarding $120 to an unknown seller for a deposit on a used electric guitar from a Facebook Marketplace ad. The unknown seller asked for an additional $100 to deliver the item and then “ghosted” the complainant after forwarding the money. Report filed for informational purposes.

Aug. 31, 4700 Block Harvest Drive: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after suspicion of impaired driving and the driver’s admission of consumption of alcohol. Breath samples provided resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 30-days. Driver elected to walk home after refusing to take a taxi/Uber.

Aug. 31, Highway 17A & Ladner Trunk Road: Police observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 17A. A traffic stop was initiated for not obeying traffic lights. A strong odour of liquor was detected coming from within the vehicle. Breath sample resulted in a ‘fail’ reading. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, the vehicle was towed and impounded for 30-days. The driver and passengers left the area on foot.

Sept. 2, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Way: Complainant reported they left their cell phone at a local business and the missing phone was tracking to an address in Surrey. Police located it and returned the phone to the complainant. No further actions required.
