Aug. 20, 5000 Block Canoe Pass Way: Complainant called police to report a theft in progress from a local business. After the unknown suspect set off the anti-theft devices near the exit, the complainant reviewed the CCTV footage and determined approximately $200 in merchandise had been stolen. CCTV showed the suspect stuffing items into their bag before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as a male Caucasian, approximately 60 years of age, with glasses, grey hair, beard and moustache, wearing a black Nike tank top, black shorts and running shoes. Patrols of the area for the suspect proved negative by police.

Aug. 24, 1300 Block 56th Street: While conducting proactive traffic stops, police detected an odour of liquor emanating from the male driver who admitted to consuming alcohol. The breath sample provided resulted in a “warn” reading. The driver declined the second test. The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and chose to walk the short distance home leaving their vehicle legally parked on the street.

Aug. 24, 5000 Block Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported a theft in progress after observing an unknown female attempting to steal items from a local business. Police attended and located two females at their vehicle after leaving the mall with unpaid merchandise. The search resulted and uncovered stolen property from multiple businesses valued at approximately $2,500. The stolen property was documented and seized for return to business.

Aug. 24, 4900 Block Chisolm Street: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving a local business. An odour of liquor was detected, and the driver admitted to consuming alcohol. Two breath samples provided resulted in a “warn” reading.  The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition. The vehicle was left parked legally and police provided a ride for the driver.

Aug. 22, 4800 Block Highway 17: While conducting routine traffic enforcement, police observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was clocked at a speed of 126km/h in an 80km/h zone. The vehicle was subsequently stopped, and the driver was charged with excessive speeding, and the vehicle was towed.

Aug. 22, 3300 Block Highway 17: While conducting traffic enforcement, police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The radar clocked the vehicle at 129km/h in an 80km/h zone. The driver was stopped and charged with excessive speed and the vehicle was towed.
