Emma Boyd captured the provincial junior girls championship earlier this month in Victoria. She now heads to nationals in Dartmouth.

Recently-crowned provincial junior champion Emma Boyd will be celebrating her 17th birthday in Nova Scotia at the 2017 Canadian Junior Championships.
The member of the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club earned her second B.C. Junior title in Victoria. Now she heads across the country looking to be on the national podium for the first time.
Boyd was fifth in her Junior Nationals debut two years ago. She was fourth at last year’s event in North Vancouver — a result that earned her a spot on Team Canada’s 2017 national youth squad, as well as the national women’s development team.
She has been training hard in preparation for this year’s championships that will take place at the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club.
Meanwhile, Boyd’s coach and TLBC teammate will also be in Dartmouth, looking for her fourth consecutive national U25 title and the opportunity to represent Canada at the 2018 World Youth Championships in Broadbeach, Australia.
National senior team member Pricilla Westlake won the women’s singles title earlier this year at the World Youth event — the biggest achievement of her already decorated career. Her focus now is on the opportunity to represent Canada on the international stage once again.
