A short gig, an art class, a cooking lesson – maybe an arts and crafts project – everything is on the table as a local man is looking to create a virtual entertainment hub.
Mike Larson, who owns the popular Mike’s Critters, posted on South Delta social media sites on Monday with his idea of lining up Deltans to provide some entertainment, a few laughs and a chance to create community spirit as we all deal with the isolation in the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I have been contacting people who have been signing up with more to come,” Larson told the Optimist. “I wanted to have a good 10 different groups wanting to do activities. Once I posted online in some of the local social media sites, more jumped on board and I know more people will be. I’m assuming from the responses it is something that will help a lot of people.”
Larson said he is looking to help out a variety of people – small businesses that are still allowed to operate.
“We all sitting at home, looking for something fun to do, especially for kids, to have some fun – a constructive distraction – and for the community to come together,” he said.
Larson is working on a schedule of the groups who will take part and will be posting to social media in a couple of days when that schedule has been established.
“I’m open to all ideas to help get this going and established,” he said. “I will likely do a live presentation, but others will do a pre-taped and recorded session of their cooking class or performance whatever that may be.”
