North Delta Crime Beat: Candu thieves verbally aggressive to store clerk

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *July 15, 8300 block Delsom Way: Complainant reported a break and enter and theft when an unknown suspect entered the common area of a start building and stole a security camera. The value of the theft is estimated at $200. The suspect was captured on other security cameras and is described as a South Asian man, 30 years old, medium build, wearing a green hat, black shirt, dark pants and red shoes. Images circulated to identify suspect.

*July 15, 700 block Eaton Way: A commercial trailer was subject to theft and mischief when the reefer unit on the front of the trailer was pried open. The cover, alternator and batteries were stolen from the unit. Also stolen was a tool bag containing a variety of hand tools and power tools. A neighbourhood canvass of the area proved to be negative. No witnesses and no suspects are known.

*July 15, 8700 block Byron Rd.: Mischief to vehicle. Overnight, an unknown suspect smashed the front passenger window of the complainant’s car and rummaged through the glove box. Nothing appeared stolen, even with valuables left in plain sight. Damage was estimated at $250.

*July 14, Annacis Island: A driver recovered a previously reported stolen commercial trailer at a customer’s warehouse. The trailer was either lost in paperwork or had been used by another trucking company and returned to the customer’s warehouse. No damage was noted. The incident is believed to be accidental and not criminal.

*July 12, 84 Ave./112 St.: Report of theft of candy from a retailer. Two suspects, one male, one female, both wearing black hoodies and grey pants pocketed candy from the store.  When they were asked to leave, they became verbally aggressive before leaving. The complainant was not interested in pursuing theft charges. Area patrols were conducted but the suspects were not located.
