Sept. 10, Public Safety Building 11375 84 Avenue: Complainant reported being the victim of fraud after booking a cruise with an online travel agency who advised they required a payment of $434 to pre-register. Complainant provided their name and credit card information, which was used for one occasion. Following the transaction, MasterCard contacted the complainant and reversed the transaction. Credit card cancelled and bank accounts secured. Review of the travel company indicates it is fraudulent. Complainant advised to complete an Equifax report to confirm no fraudulent activity associated with their name.
Sept. 10, 7000 Block 120th Street: Police observed a vehicle travelling northbound on Scott Road driving under the speed limit, weaving in the lane, and almost striking the centre median several times. Police noted an odour of liquor coming from the driver, who admitted to consuming alcohol two hours prior. Two breath samples obtained resulted in “Warn” readings. The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside suspension. A sober driver attended the scene and drove the vehicle and driver from the area.
Sept. 14, 7000 Block 120th Street: Complainant reported observing an unknown male exit a local business after selecting items and passing the tills without paying. Security confronted the suspect resulting in a brief struggle and the unknown male running from the store. All products worth approximately $247 recovered at scene.
Sept. 15, 11500 Block 95A Avenue: Complainant reported a white Volkswagen Jetta drove into the front yard of their residence, colliding with numerous cedar shrubs and trees. Police attended and formed the suspicion that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver provided one breath sample resulting in a “Fail” and declined to provide a second sample. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded for 30-days. Vehicle towed from scene.
