North Delta Crime Beat: Thousands of dollars in merchandise stolen from trailer

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Aug. 29, 9300 Block of River Road: Complainant reported a theft from their truck trailer parked in the transport yard. The theft occurred the previous evening and approximately $5,000 to $10,000 worth of clothing/retail merchandise was stolen from the trailer.   Investigation to continue with a male who lives on site in a trailer and may have video of the incident. 

*Aug. 29, Public Safety Building 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported they purchased concert tickets on Facebook Marketplace and sent the seller $1,200, but no tickets received.  Police to investigate the fraud with screenshots of the texts.

*Aug. 30, 600 Block of Ridley Place: Complainant reported their vehicle stolen from a business sometime over the past four days. Local towing companies contacted, but with negative results. All keys accounted for and the vehicle was left locked. Investigation to continue with pending surveillance video from the business.

*Aug. 31, 6000 Block of 64th Street: A business reported two teenage females entered the store and stole numerous items valued at $120. Through queries the police were able to identify the suspects who were from out of town. The business did not want to pursue charges, but requested the return of the goods. Police contacted the suspects who were apologetic for their actions and returned the goods to the store.

*Sept. 1, Public Safety Building 11375 84th Avenue: A parent reported their son was attempting to sell their phone on Facebook Marketplace and in the process transferred $50 to an unknown person. The parent had intervened and prevented any further funds from being transferred. Police attended and educated the son on internet safety pertaining to potential fraud.

*Sept. 1, 11900 Block of 88th Avenue: The manager of a restaurant reported a party of three had left the restaurant without paying their $75 bill. The manager provided police with a license plate number and police were able to contact the party who were horrified about the failure to pay and told police they were returning immediately to pay the bill. No offence as they was no intention not to pay.

*Sept. 1, 9100 Block of 119A Street: Complainant reported a male parked in the driveway, walked to the front door, stole an Amazon package, and left two items of mail.  Surveillance video revealed the vehicle to be an Evo rental. Police contacted Evo and have requested renter information in order to continue investigation.

*Sept. 2, 11300 Block of 74th Avenue: Complainant reported they had parked their vehicle with the doors locked on the street next to their house. When the complainant entered the car in the morning, they found several items missing including their wallet, firearms license, ear plugs, prescription glasses, work ID, and $175. A cell phone, believed to be the suspects, was found in the driver’s seat and was seized by police. Canvass of the neighbourhood by police for surveillance video proved negative. Incident still under investigation.

*Sept. 3, Public Safety Building 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported suspicious transactions in their bank account amounting to $1,500 over the past week. The bank advised they would be investigating and bank cards cancelled. Police advised complainant to create a claim on the Canadian Anti-Fraud website. Police obtained screenshots of the e-transfers in order to continue investigation.
