Tsawwassen

June 3, 200 Block of Parkside Street: Complainant reported that their unlocked vehicle, parked in front of their residence, was rummaged through sometime during the night. The garage door opener was used to open the garage where a red 25L jerry can of fuel was stolen. The vehicle registration and insurance papers were also stolen. 

June 4, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they received a call from a male who claimed to be a representative of TELUS indicating the complainant was eligible for a new mobility plan. The complainant said they were interested and provided the caller with personal information. When the caller asked for the complainant’s credit card number, they became suspicious and ended the call. The complainant contacted TELUS, who said the incident was fraudulent. TransUnion and Equifax have been informed, and the fraudulent number has been blocked. 

June 4, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they received a phone call from North Carolina from a person claiming to be from United States Department of Homeland Security. The caller indicated the complainant was under investigation for money laundering and all their bank cards were frozen. The complainant was instructed to buy $5,000 worth of Apple gift cards and provide the serial numbers to the caller. The complainant contacted their bank, who indicated the incident to be fraudulent and the bank cards were not frozen. Police counselled the complainant regarding trending scams and forwarded the file to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. There was no loss of funds. 

June 4, 1600 Block of Duncan Drive: Complainant left their vehicle unlocked in front of their residence and sometime overnight, a pair of turquoise sunglasses, valued at $100, were stolen from the vehicle. Complainant confirmed there was no damage to the vehicle and it was left unlocked. No surveillance video or witnesses.

June 5, 6400 Block Hammermill Avenue: Complainant reported their Nexus card, and a Stihl battery was stolen from their unlocked vehicle, parked in front of their residence. The complainant found the items missing after reading about unlocked vehicles being entered and items stolen. No damage to vehicle. Police reminded the complainant of the importance of locking vehicles and of reporting the loss of the Nexus card to the appropriate government agency.

Ladner

June 2, 3300 Block of River Road West: Complainant reported, their neighbour’s boat missing from the storage unit. The boat is described as an 18-foot black aluminum boat, with a 70-HP-four-stroke outboard motor. It is unknown how the storage unit was entered, although the gate lock appears to have been tampered with. No surveillance video available. The boat was added to the Canadian Police Information Centre as stolen. 

June 3, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they had met a person on Tinder who indicated they were a financial advisor and convinced the complainant to invest $40,000 into crypto currency. When the complainant made a request to withdraw some of the funds, they were informed there would be a 15 percent charge, at that point became suspicious and decided to file a report of possible fraud. The complainant will provide the police with crypto banking information for an investigation of the fraudulent activity to proceed. 

June 3, 8200 Block of River Road: Complainant reported the theft of their boat from its moorage. Video surveillance was reviewed, and showed a person being dropped off at the dock via the water, entering the boat, and then heading towards the Alex Fraser Bridge.  The boat is described as a 1972, white Grew 19’, ski boat. Police were provided surveillance video and still photos of the boat. Information regarding the stolen boat was added to the Canadian Police Information Centre. 

June 8, 4500 Block of Evergreen Lane: A resident of a complex reported someone had destroyed the light post in front of the complex, while stealing their black Rally electric fat tire bike valued at $2,600. Police attended and searched the area with negative results. The bike was secured with a heavy-duty key lock, which was also taken by the suspect. The complainant observed from surveillance video a male suspect who was wearing a blue and white hat, and a blue puffer jacket. The complainant was provided with a file number for insurance purposes. Investigation will continue with receipt of surveillance video.
