South Delta Crime Beat: Golfer won’t be teeing off anytime soon after theft

July 25, 5000 Block Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported the theft of purses worth approximately $3,000 from a local business. The suspect was observed walking past the business before entering and grabbing six Coach Bags then leaving the business on foot. The suspect is described as Caucasian, 5’10, with a slim build, and was wearing a black baseball cap, red/black shirt, and jean shorts, and was carrying a blue shopping bag. Police patrols in area for the suspect were negative. CCTV footage has been provided to officers for possible identification.

July 26, 5000 Block Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported the theft of their bag containing personal contents and cash after placing the bag on the counter at a local business while paying for other purchases. An unknown male grabbed the bag from the counter and fled from the store. Estimated value of contents approximately $700 including $500 in cash. The suspect is described as a South Asian male, 25 to 30 years of age with a medium build. He was accompanied by a South Asian female also 25 to 30 years old. Police spoke to store staff who will provide CCTV footage for possible identification.

July 27, 1200 Block Pacific Drive: Police received a report of a vehicle that struck a pole as well as multiple vehicles. Police detected an odour of liquor emanating from the driver. Roadside screening determined a ‘warn’ reading which resulted in the driver receiving an immediate roadside prohibition. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

July 22, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported being the victim of fraud after sending $1,000 via a fake Facebook account listing a vehicle for sale. Complainant also started a PayPal transaction for $3,000 to complete the sale, but stopped payment realizing the account could be fake. Complainant reported the activity to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Agency, contacted their bank, and was advised to contact Equifax and Transunion as well as block fraudulent account on Facebook.

July 23, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle parked at their residence. All surfaces near cut marks were negative for prints. Approximate value of damage $800.

July 27, 5200 Block Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant reported the theft of their golf clubs from their vehicle while parked at local business. Items stolen were Ping carrier bag, six various golf clubs and golf balls valued at approximately $2,500. No CCTV available.
