Sept. 26, 2024, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported receiving an email demanding payment of $1,960 in bitcoin or embarrassing content would be released to all the complainant’s contacts. As per police advice, the complainant blocked and deleted the email after printing it off to run a computer diagnostic. A second email was received but no response sent. The complainant was advised of anti-fraud materials available on the Delta police website. Police queries of the email and the bitcoin wallet address were negative. No financial loss was incurred.
Sept. 29, 1300 Block of 55th Street: Complainant reported their apartment was egged the night before and that possibly four teenagers walking through the back of the neighbouring park may have been the suspects. The eggs broke the screen on the window causing $150 in damage. Police attended but found no surveillance video available.
Sept. 30, 1700 Block of Tsawwassen Drive: Complainant reported their storage locker was broken into sometime during the past month. Police attended and were advised approximately $6,500 worth of motorcycle and camping gear stolen. The lock had been removed from the locker with cut marks consistent with a power grinder. Police found several lockers with identical cut marks. One other owner advised a backpack, first aid kit, and computer monitor with a total value of $200 was also stolen. The date of offence is not known.
Sept. 30, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: Complainant reported their black 2014 Dodge Caravan was stolen from the shopping mall parking lot. Police attended, but the vehicle was out of the site lines of surveillance video, and a patrol of the area proved negative. Surrey police later recovered the vehicle with the license plate removed but no other items missing from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene for police examination.

Sept. 28, Headquarters 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported they received an email at work from what they thought was their boss requesting the purchase of $400 in Apple gift cards. As the complainant works for a fundraising program, they thought the request was legitimate. The cards were purchased, and screen shots sent to the boss before the complainant realized the address was not the boss’s and that they were a victim of fraud. Police advised the complainant to report the incident to Equifax and TransUnion.
Sept. 29, 4900 Block of River Reach: Complainant reported their 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 parked on the street had been stolen. No one else had access to the vehicle and no keys were missing. Vehicle was added to the Canadian Police Information Centre as stolen. Police conducted a surveillance video canvass of the neighbouring homes and businesses with negative results. A file number was provided to the complainant for insurance purposes.
Sept. 29, 5200 Block of Hwy 17A: Police stopped a vehicle travelling at 145 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The driver was given an immediate seven-day roadside prohibition, and speeding ticket. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver picked up by a friend.
Sept. 29, 2400 Block of Hwy 17: Police observed a vehicle travelling at 145 km/h in a posted 80 km/h. This speed was maintained for approximately one km passing multiple slower moving vehicles. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was charged with driving at an excessive speed and given an immediate seven-day roadside prohibition. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
